“Don’t Give Up!”
On Memorial Day Weekend I was part of a group of eight people who Broke Out! Selah asked to try an escape room at Breakout Games in Columbia. It was tremendous fun in the end but filled with some anxious moments during the hour that we were given to solve enough clues to escape the Mystery Mansion. There was one point of the process that I was frustrated to the point of giving up. I felt like I had nothing to contribute, almost as if I were so much dead weight that was holding out team back. I had to remind myself that we were a team, and everyone had their place to use whatever strengths or weaknesses that they possessed for the good of the team.
This is very similar to the Body of Christ. Individuals often feel lost and useless, as if they have nothing tangible to contribute for the greater good. They even consider giving up, and some may even make the regrettable decision to stop trying to do anything for the team. The Bible has numerous examples of the Lord encouraging His children to be strong, and to never give up when things seem difficult or frustrating. "But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!" (2 Chronicles 15:7 NKJV) Our God wants us to be part of His victory and achievements. He wants us to remain a team player.
Christian friend, you are part of the glorious body of Christ. Your role may not seem significant; your labors may seem frustrating and futile; your scars may be more numerous than other team-members. God sees you, and He has equipped you with the Holy Spirit to help you. Don’t give up! Every drop of sweat, tear and scar acquired in building God’s Kingdom is precious to your God and brings glory to His name.
